My Best Friend

Hey people! What makes a good friend? Well, a friend who is supportive most of the time. A friend who keeps you happy most of the time. A friend who is there whenever you are in need. A friend, who consoles you when you are sad and a lot of other things make a good friend. But, what makes a best friend?

If we talk about best friend, he/she is the one who doesn't tick any of the boxes for the questions above. I don't know if he is supportive, but stays with you all the time. A best friend is that person who annoys you most of the time. More like, a 'ஜோடி கிளி' (pair of parrots). That friend is the one who, I don't know if he consoles, but gets you irritated so much so that you forget your original depression. If you are hurt, he will hurt you even more, making you invincible to hurt.

A best friend does not choose you and you don't either. It is a knot tied by the Almighty himself. A best friend is not there to help you. He/She is there to make you who you are, which is one step further. Best friends are people who don't care. Which means, they are not worrird if they would lose the other one's friendship. They know that they cannot be without each other how much ever they fight or quarrel. You are in your most original self with your best friend. You need not wear a mask in front of him/her. There is no need of any drama for you to express your affection towards that person. If at all you want to express your affection, the best way is to irritate your friend in the best way possible.

Best friends are not adjusting people, but understanding people. Though both are nothing alike, they remain together throughout. And unknowingly, either would get benefited by the other, and the one wouldn't realise that immediately, but only after a while. People, if you ever feel your friend is not empathetic or sympathetic, feel happy because you've got a real person for a friend and not an impostor. Friendship is way harder than love is what I feel. Love is easily broken up, and moved on from. But friendship is not easy to break and not easy to move on from, but of course, it could be mended!
